Welcome
The mission of the Hispanic Women’s Council is to “support, promote and create opportunities for Hispanic women.”
The Hispanic Women’s Council (HWC) was created by a group of visionary women, primarily from Albuquerque, New Mexico, who were determined to address the under representation of Hispanic women in high-level, decision-making positions. Over several months a series of meetings were held in their living rooms to brainstorm and reach agreement on a broad mission statement, write the bylaws and complete the necessary documents to establish a new non-profit corporation. This was accomplished in 1988.
Members of the HWC represent all walks of life. They include educators, public administrators, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, political office holders, artists, community volunteers, and students. Unique to HWC is an emphasis on a multi-generational membership.
Our activities are designed to promote networking, education, cultural preservation and to celebrate and document the accomplishments of Hispanic women.
